Tower: Worldly Security vs. Eternal Security

1. Pray for perspective to discern what “things” have become your imaginary tower of safety and security.

“Dear God, you are the only source of true safety and security. For that, I am thankful. At times in my life, I have looked to savings, people, and organizations for that security. Forgive me for losing sight, even temporarily, in your ultimate security. Reveal those distractions to me so that I may lean on you once again.”

2. God sometimes allows pain and suffering to invade our lives. Instead of praying for nothing bad to happen, pray for strength and faith to face whatever challenges life may bring.  Ask God to help you trust and run to Him when crises come.

“Dear Lord, my life is quite a roller coaster sometimes. And, there are moments when the pain seems too much to bear. I ask you to sustain me during those times. I also ask you to show me how to move to a life that is so full of faith that the challenges appear minimized. Remind me you are the only one I can truly trust to maneuver life’s challenges with me.”

Memorize Proverbs 18:10-11

The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.  The rich think of their wealth as an impregnable defense; they imagine it is a high wall of safety.

Series Information

In this series, you will see a family take risks, experience suffering, doubt and joy while we reflect upon biblical precepts of "giving God our best." Moreover, you will see what happens when the family chooses to embrace a generous life in the midst of uncertainty.  Like them, you will be invited into a transformational process concluding with our church-wide pledging for 2019 church ministry support in worship Saturday/Sunday on October 20-21, 2018.
