Cub Scouts - Pack 170

For the fun-loving, adventure-seeking boys of today, Cub Scouts offers a world of discovery, exploration and FUN!  Whether boys are taking their first camping trip or building a Pinewood Derby car, Pack 170 delivers exciting character-building activities that encourage boys to grow into successful men.

No matter what grade you are in, first through fifth, Cub Scouts is a blast. Here, we learn by doing — you can learn to tie knots, set up a tent, shoot a bow and arrow, cook a meal on a camp fire, send a secret code to a buddy, built a birdhouse or even a bat house. We learn the rules of sportsmanship by playing Soccer, Baseball, Basketball and even Ultimate Frisbee. We learn about nature and how to take care of our planet by taking a long hike in the woods, along a trail, by a river or even up a mountain.

Over the years, Fredericksburg UMC’s Pack 170 has been awarded numerous accolades because of its outstanding program and fantastic group of leaders. Parents always notice dramatic changes in their boys once joining Pack 170 and credit our unique program’s ability to instill ambition and a sense of fellowship in their youth. Our dedicated leaders work hard to ensure that our Scouts teach values consistent with good citizenship, character development, and physical fitness. Want to be a part of our dynamic program? Visit our website at and click on the “New Prospective Scout” link and we will guide you on how to join. Or, you can contact the Pack 170 Committee Chair, Marcia Dishman.  We meet EVERY Tuesday from 6:00 - 7:30 PM at FUMC.  While space is always limited in our popular program, we do have some spots currently open for kids in 1st grade (or 7 years old) through 5th grade.

Girl Scouts - Troop 263

Founded at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, on March 11, 2007, Girl Scout Troop 263 is a multi-level troop with girls from the Daisy level (kindergarten) through the Ambassador level (senior in high school).  In the Girl Scout tradition, the leadership strives to guide our girls to grow to be strong women; women who have strong work ethics, possess strong values, become strong leaders, and be sisters to every Girl Scout.  Troop 263 is an extremely active troop serving our church, our community, and our world. Activities include, but are not limited to: archery, camping, geocaching, hiking, crafts, badge earning, community service, travel, high adventure, and STEM.

We meet every Friday from 4:30 - 5:45 PM in Kobler Hall.   Contact Leigh Sutton for more information.

Our will be completing a take-action project as part of their Explore Williamsburg patch in October. The girls are asking for the following donations to support the Avalon Center, a place where women and children can go if they are facing issues of abuse: Rolls of toilet paper, deodorant, and full size bottles of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. Please deposit items in the collection box of Mission Control by Wednesday, October 11th to support their cause.
