I'm New

Welcome to Fredericksburg UMC

Welcome to Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.  We have been active in the Fredericksburg community for more than 200 years.  Our church is a vibrant, active community of believers with something to offer everyone.  Whether you are looking to strengthen your connection with God, join a support ministry, serve our community and world, or find a good wholesome activity for you and your family, there are many interesting possibilities for you to explore.

Worship

Our Sunday Traditional worship services in the sanctuary are at 8:15 & 11:15 am.
Our Contemporary worship service is at 9:45 am in Kobler Hall, a multi-use space.
We'd love to meet you!

Our services provide a unique atmosphere for worship, from intimate and reflective, to traditional and contemporary.

Our Location and Parking

308 Hanover Street
Fredericksburg, VA 22401

Get Directions - Google

We like to reserve the two Charlotte Street parking lots for visitors, guests, the elderly, and those with very small children.  The Charlotte Street parking lot is between Prince Edward and Princess Anne Streets.

When you arrive...

Ask a greeter for information about our church or to show you to worship or maybe a class or function.  Be sure to stop by the Welcome table located outside of Kobler Hall and the Sanctuary.

What do I wear?

Whatever you feel comfortable in!  You’ll see people dressed in casual clothes and suits worshiping side-by-side at Fredericksburg UMC. We’re much more interested in meeting you than in what you choose to wear.

Where do I take my kids?

Children are always welcome in worship at FUMC.  We do have a professionally staffed nursery available on the lower level (currently staffed during our 8:15 and 9:45 am services only). Our child care workers are loving, consistent, and trained. They will provide you with a beeper with which to contact you should your child be inconsolable. You can also take advantage of our infant comfort room on the second floor for contemporary services. Ask a greeter or church member to escort or point you in the right direction.   Our church can be confusing to navigate - so don't be shy.

If you are joining us for services with your older children, we invite families to worship together in the Sanctuary and Kobler Hall.  Activity bags and children's bulletins are available for children at each service.

We would love to meet you!

We have fellowship (socialize) after the Sunday services where you can have a cup of coffee, tea, juice, a treat or two, and a warm welcome from our congregation.

What We Believe

It is our desire to make disciples of Jesus Christ.  Our mission is to seek others in the community, serve their needs, grow the love of Christ, and connect with each other.
We strive to do this through reaching people, teaching them to love and serve Jesus, and sending them to reach, teach, and send others.

Learn and Grow in your faith

Small Groups are a great way to grow in faith, practicing accountability, and becoming stronger disciples for Christ.

Despite the fast-paced and busy life, we need to be connected to a caring community where you feel like you belong. It is our goal that at Fredericksburg UMC everyone is connected to the body of Christ through small groups.   Ask one of our greeters about these different opportunities. Some are meeting in person and some are meeting on ZOOM due to COVID. Email our Congregational Care Coordinator - Mary McGhee-Pasternak to get connected with some of these adult small groups. More information on Children & Youth opportunities can be at the links.

How do I become a member?

We invite you to become a part of the exciting things that are happening at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. We encourage you to get involved in fellowship, participate in a small group, and seek an area of serving in one of the many areas of ministry at Fredericksburg UMC.
