As we journey through the 40 days of Lent, we are invited to reflect on Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and the call to live generously. A simple generosity jar—a place to collect spare change each day—can become a tangible reminder of God’s provision and our calling to give. Just as Jesus multiplied the loaves and fish to feed the hungry, He can take our small offerings and use them for His benefit!
Each coin dropped into the jar (even just a penny a day! sometimes you can find them on the street!) can be a prayer, a moment of gratitude, and a step towards a heart that mirrors God’s generosity.
At the end of Lent, this jar will represent more than just money; it will symbolize our faith and love in action. Whether it is given to a person in need, a local ministry (Micah, Food Pantry, SPCA, etc), or a community cause, the impact will extend beyond the coins—it will touch lives in our community with God’s love. As we continue through this season of reflection, I hope you will remember that true generosity is not about the amount we give but about the spirit in which we give it. "Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously" (2 Corinthians 9:6). May our hearts, like our jars, overflow with generosity this Lent.
