Faltering
Today we focus on how Peter and all of us falter, that is, we fail to be faithful to God. Lent is a time to focus on those moments when we are less than faithful, when we tend to, like Peter, deny our faith and turn our back on Christ. In this focus on faltering, it can be a cleansing time of releasing our failures and denials to our forgiving and restoring God. Consider this week meditating on David’s response to God in Psalm 51. His prayer was in response to his own very misguided lapse in faithfulness. Pray his words daily: “Create a clean heart within me, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
