Sunday, May 17, 2026, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
You are invited to come join the conversation with our next speaker in our popular Peace with Justice speaker series, which will be Delegate Joshua Cole, who will speak at FUMC in Kobler Hall, at 4 pm on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Peace with Justice is a FUMC ministry focused on social justice education and advocacy. Its purpose and mission are to engage and educate people of faith and goodwill, within the church as well as in the greater community, to advocate for racial, social, economic, and environmental justice on behalf of marginalized people, while seeking a path to peace as modeled by Jesus. Our members understand that neither justice nor peace can exist without the other. (Isaiah 32:17). Past PwJ speakers have included Delegate Cole (who in 2023, presented the "concept" of a Faith in Housing bill). He is also an ordained pastor and a past president of the Stafford County NAACP. As Delegate, he has championed issues such as the Faith in Housing initiative and has focused on bridging his faith-based ministry with legislative actions to support working-class families and the greater community in the Fredericksburg region. Delegate Cole will provide a nonpartisan review of the significant legislation passed by the 2026 Virginia General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Abigail Spanberger. He will discuss the effect of this legislation on our daily lives and our local community, and also address how we as engaged citizens can help fulfill the goals of this legislation.
